Quick introduction to the VoxelStudios editor
When you open the editor, you start with a blank canvas. Click "New Project" to begin, or import existing media from your device. The editor auto-saves your work to prevent data loss.
The main interface consists of: the Preview Panel (top-center), the Timeline (bottom), the Media Library (left sidebar), and the AI Tools Panel (right sidebar). Each panel can be resized or collapsed.
Drag and drop video, image, or audio files directly into the Media Library. Supported formats include MP4, MOV, WebM, PNG, JPG, GIF, MP3, and WAV. Files are processed locally for privacy.
Create videos from text or images using AI
Enter a text prompt describing your desired scene. Be specific about actions, lighting, and style. Example: "A golden retriever running through a sunlit meadow, cinematic slow motion". Generation typically takes 15-30 seconds.
Upload a reference image and the AI will animate it into a video sequence. Great for bringing still photos to life or creating motion from AI-generated images.
Select any video clip and use "Extend Clip" to add AI-generated frames that seamlessly continue the action. The AI analyzes motion, style, and content to create natural extensions.
Maintain character appearance across scenes
Open the Storyboard Studio and click "New Character". Upload a reference image or describe their appearance in detail. Include specific traits like hair color, clothing style, and distinguishing features.
When generating new content, select your saved character from the dropdown. The AI will maintain their visual appearance while adapting to the new scene context.
Save frequently used objects and outfits to your library. Assign them to characters or use them independently in generation prompts. Keeps your visual style consistent throughout the project.
Plan your narrative with visual scenes
The Storyboard view shows your project as a sequence of cards. Each card represents a scene with its own characters, setting, and action. Rearrange cards by dragging to adjust story flow.
Specify camera angles and shot types in your prompts: "close-up", "wide shot", "bird's eye view", "low angle". The AI respects these cinematographic directions.
Once your storyboard is complete, click "Generate All" to create video for each scene. Generated clips are automatically arranged in your timeline in sequence.
Voice synthesis, music, and sound effects
Generate natural-sounding voiceovers from text. Choose from multiple voice styles and adjust parameters like speed, pitch, and emotion. Great for narration and character dialogue.
Automatically transcribe any audio or video clip. Captions are synced to speech timing and can be styled, repositioned, or exported as SRT files.
Upload a video with a face and audio track. The AI adjusts lip movements to match the audio, enabling dubbing and voiceover synchronization.
Automatically lower background music volume when dialogue plays. Configure threshold and reduction amount in Audio Settings.
Cut, trim, and enhance your videos
Drag clips onto tracks, use [ and ] keys to set in/out points, split clips with S key. Multi-select with Shift+Click. Ripple edit by holding Alt while trimming.
Describe edits in natural language: "Remove the awkward pause at 0:45" or "Make this section faster". The AI interprets your intent and applies appropriate edits.
Apply color presets or adjust manually with curves, HSL, and color wheels. LUT support for cinematic looks. Copy grades between clips with Ctrl+Shift+V.
Enhance low-resolution footage to up to 4K. The AI reconstructs detail and reduces artifacts. Works best on footage that is slightly soft rather than heavily compressed.
Visual effects and clip transitions
Access effects from the Effects panel: blur, glow, vignette, film grain, chromatic aberration, and more. Drag onto clips or apply to entire tracks.
Animate any effect parameter over time. Click the stopwatch icon to enable keyframes, then adjust values at different points on the timeline. Easing curves control acceleration.
Drag transitions between clips: cross dissolve, wipe, slide, zoom. Adjust duration by dragging transition edges. Custom transitions can be created with keyframed opacity and position.
Export your finished projects
Export to MP4 (H.264), WebM, or MOV. Choose resolution from 720p to 4K. Frame rates: 24, 30, or 60 fps. Higher quality exports take longer but produce better results.
One-click presets optimized for YouTube, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Twitter. Automatically sets correct aspect ratio, resolution, and encoding settings.
Export multiple versions simultaneously. Useful for creating different aspect ratios or quality levels from the same project.
Customize your editing experience
Adjust preview quality for smoother playback on slower devices. Enable proxy editing for large files. GPU acceleration is enabled by default when available.
View and customize all keyboard shortcuts in Preferences > Shortcuts. Import/export shortcut profiles. Common shortcuts: Space (play/pause), I/O (in/out), C (cut).
Projects auto-save every 30 seconds. Access version history to restore previous states. Export projects as .vxl files to share or backup.
